Cura Type A:
Direct Print to Series 1
Cura Type A v1.5 or later
Begin by launching Cura Type A version 1.5 or later. If you do not have version 1.5 or later, you can download it from the Type A Machines website here:
Configure Cura Type A
Within Cura Type A, choose “Machine” from the menu bar, then select “Add Printer (Direct Upload)” (Fig. 1a). For versions prior to v1.5, the menu option is not available. Instead, click on the circular icon with the label “Sent to Series 1” (Fig 1b).
Enter the Serial Number which is found on the front faceplate of your Series 1.
Enter the API Key which can be found in the printer’s onboard interface settings (Fig. 2).
NOTE: To access the printer’s onboard interface, ensure you are connected to the printer via Wi-Fi or Network Router, open a browser, and type:
Replace “XXXXX ” with the 4 or 5 digit serial number on the front panel
Then press enter to load the interface.
Settings can be accessed by clicking on the icon with image of a wrench (Fig. 3).
Select “API” the settings page to see your printer’s API Key (Fig. 4).
Copy the API Key, then return to Cura Type A and paste into the API field.
Click Add Printer at the bottom and the following dialog should appear with your specific serial number and API Key (Fig. 5).
If you encounter an error, verify the serial number entered is correct and ensure the printer is powered on and accessible via network.
Cura Type A is now configured to send Gcode files directly to your Series 1.
Sending a File
Click “Send to Series 1” and a save dialog box will appear.
Check the “Open Interface” to open the printer’s onboard interface automatically.
Check “Start Print” to begin the print automatically once it has successfully been sent to the printer.
